An absolute threshold defect in the inferior retina.

چکیده
Absolute thresholds were checked in six meridians in 18 patients at 10 and 20 degrees eccentricity, with VA degree and 1 degree targets. Thresholds averaged higher in the inferior than in the superior retina. The highest threshold was obtained from the inferior vertical meridian. Area-intensity functions were obtained from 3 subjects for the superior and inferior vertical meridians. The thresholds were generally higher for the inferior meridians. The results were discussed in terms of possible retinal factors. The difference in function between the inferior and superior retinal meridians is probably embryological in origin and presumably is secondary to delayed retinal differentiation in the region of the embryonic fissure.

Bilocular Stafne Bone Defect above And Below the Inferior Alveolar Canal Assessed by Cone Beam Computed Tomography: A Case Report
Stafne bone defect is a bone depression containing salivary gland or fatty soft tissue on the lingual surface of the mandible. The most common location is within the submandibular gland fossa and often close to the inferior border of the mandible. This defect is asymptomatic and generally discovered only incidentally during radiographic examination of the area. Stafne bone defect appears as a w...

Purpose: To report a case of solar retinopathy following methamphetamine (MA) abuse. Case report: A 37-years-old man was visited with sudden painless loss of vision in both eyes. He was addicted to methamphetamine for three years. He used MA at the day of admission. Excessive sun gazing (4 hours) took place due to using hallucinations secondary to the MA. Visual acuity was 15/400 Snellen chart ...
متن کاملVisual field abnormalities in nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy: their pattern and prevalence at initial examination.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the pattern of various types of visual field defects and their prevalence at initial examination of nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NA-AION). METHODS The data were compiled from 312 consecutive eyes (in 265 patients) that fulfilled our inclusion and exclusion criteria. A comprehensive ophthalmic evaluation was performed, including recording of visual acu...
متن کاملHuman electroretinogram near the absolute threshold of vision.
.raditional studies of the animal and human electroretinogram (ERG) indicate that the stimulus intensity necessary to evoke a minimal ERG from the dark adapted retina is well above the absolute threshold of vision; these studies also show that the ERG response at threshold consists of the b-wave only, and the a-wave appears at suprathreshold intensities. Recent work on the toad, rat, cat, monke...
متن کاملQuantification of Glaucomatous Threshold Visual Field Loss Based on Neuromorphometric Correlates
There has been no perimetric index or scoring method available to quantify both glaucomatous and neuro-ophthalmic threshold field defects on a continuum, with emphasis on neuronal correlates and presumed damage. The absolute-relative-total scotoma (ARTS) scoring algorithm identifies the percentage of absolute, relative and total scotoma components of static threshold perimetric results. ARTS sc...
